Alinda Mashiku (nee Aligawesa)
President and Co-Founder
Alinda was born in New York City, NY and moved to Tanzania, where she attained her primary and secondary school education. She holds a PhD in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University and is a practicing Aerospace Engineer in the Metro DC area in the US. Growing up in Tanzania, it was clear that an education was one of the key differentiators for a better life. She is very thankful of her family especially her father; who championed and believed in her to excel in her academic pursuits. Her father believed that she could do anything. Alinda is passionate about empowering young women in education as well as to encourage an academic and career endeavor in STEM.
"The Joule Foundation was formed as the vessel to influence and encourage the next generation of young Africans to be partakers and contributors to the world of STEM. It is our hope, that with reaching out to the future generation with encouragement, compassion and determination, their dreams can become a reality."
